Bartók and Enescu

  • RTÉ Contempo String Quartet
  • Arcadia Quartet

Revered by every musician with whom he came into contact, the Romanian George Enescu produced his String Octet in 1900, when he was just 19. As with Mendelssohn’s more famous work, an early composition turned out to be a major masterpiece.

  • Concert supported by Wigmore Hall, in partnership with the Romanian Cultural Institute in London and RTÉ
  • Béla Bartók (1881-1945)
        • 6 Romanian Folk Dances BB68 (arr. Matt Naughtin for string quartet)
  • George Enescu (1881-1955)
        • String Octet in C Op. 7
