Named not after Robert or Clara, but for the brothers who form three-quarters of its personnel (the violist is Liisa Randalu), the ensemble has received consistent acclaim for its performances and recordings, the latter including works by Haydn and Brahms. Critics have been full of praise. ‘The Schumann Quartet plays staggeringly well […] without doubt one of the very best formations among today’s abundance of quartets’, wrote Harald Eggebrecht in the Süddeutsche Zeitung.
