Three works from composers born in Poland from an ensemble which, over its nearly 45 years of existence, has premièred over 100 works. Its recording of the complete quartets of Grażyna Bacewicz (1909-69) won a Gramophone Award and was described by BBC Music Magazine as ‘a tremendous achievement’; equally acclaimed have been its CDs of the Piano Quintet written in the last year of his life by Juliusz Zarębski (1854-85), and the quartets of the rediscovered Mieczysław Weinberg.
