Gramophone has written of Sir András as a Haydn pianist that he is ‘acute in his responses to the music’s drama, wit and poetry, and in his control of narrative line. His “centred” tone and limpid, subtly coloured soft playing are a constant delight, as is his variety of articulation and nuance.’ A leading soprano joins him for some of the English Canzonettas dating from the composer’s London visits.
