  • Smetana Trio

An ensemble that can date its first emanation back to 1934, the Czech trio has renewed itself whilst remaining loyal to its founding artistic principles: its current line-up includes the son (cellist Jan Páleníček) of one of its original members (pianist Josef Páleníček). The three musicians bring a work by Smetana’s younger colleague Dvořák. According to BBC Music Magazine, ‘there is nothing routine about the Smetana Trio’s approach to this engaging repertoire.’

  • Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827)
      • Piano Trio in C minor Op. 1 No. 3
  • Antonín Dvořák (1841-1904)
      • Piano Trio No. 2 in G minor Op. 26
