Two major cycles from the exceptional French baritone – ‘a wonderfully patrician singer with a handsome, ringing tone’ (The Guardian) – and his pianist partner, plus a less familiar item by the Breton French composer Guy Ropartz (1864-1955), whose 4 poèmes de l’intermezzo (1899) are settings of French translations of Heinrich Heine selected from his Buch der Lieder (1827).
