Composers have long been inspired by the music of others, reworking their ideas into new forms. Bach transcribed Vivaldi’s concerti for alternative instruments, Mozart reorchestrated Messiah, and Mendelssohn set to work on the St Matthew Passion. Here, The English Concert explore arrangements of Haydn and Mozart through the eyes of later generations.
