In the build-up to Christmas, The English Concert turns to JS Bach’s three surviving cantatas written for Advent. Despite Bach’s gruelling schedule composing almost one cantata per week, his music is still full of characteristic invention, including the French overture style that opens ‘Nun komm, der heiden heiland’.
