Inspired by the diasporic communities of Amsterdam, known as the ‘Jerusalem of the North’ not least because of its vast Sephardic synagogue, the ‘Esnoga’, The English Concert sets out to explore the fusion of cultures and the haunting beauty of Jewish musical life and creativity in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
