Gramophone has described the distinguished French pianist’s complete five-volume recording of the composer’s piano music as an act of ‘cleansing Debussy of years of dust and accretion and recreating him in every bar in a sparkling and pristine light’. International Record Review, meanwhile, considered him ‘a fascinating Debussy player, not only because of his immensely refined ear for sonority but also his rhythmic flexibility allied to a strong sense of musical architecture.’
