Two popular works from the Romantic period from an ensemble that took three prizes at the 2018 Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition: third prize overall, best Haydn Quartet, and the Sidney Griller Award for best performance of a contemporary work. The following year it was awarded first prize in the Banff International String Quartet Competition and is currently quartet-in-residence at the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia. Its name suggests four instruments all beginning with the letter v operating as one instrument – like a piano.

  • Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847)
