Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart


Subject of only the second lecture-recital ever to be given at the Hall – in January 1906, when Henry Wood conducted the Queen’s Hall Orchestra in a programme of symphonies and extracts – Mozart, with his facility for writing for all imaginable forces, has always formed part of the Hall’s repertoire. His piano and chamber works have been celebrated in series which include sonatas by Mitsuko Uchida and string quartets by the Hagen Quartet, and his songs have been sung by artists from Dame Janet Baker and Andreas Scholl to Simon Bode and Fatma Said.
