Volker David Kirchner’s association with the Fauré Quartet has delivered several new compositions, his third piano quartet Der grosse Tango (2012) outstanding among them.
The work, with its intense mix of dance energy and lyrical lines, makes the ideal companion for the youthful exuberance of Richard Strauss’s early Piano Quartet in C minor Op. 13.
