Wigmore Hall has commissioned a major new work from Sir Harrison Birtwistle to mark his 80th birthday year.

Nicolas Hodges, described by Tempo as ‘a refreshing artist’ who ‘plays the classics as if they were written yesterday, and what was written yesterday as if it were already a classic’, presents the first performance of Birtwistle’s score in company with Debussy’s sublime late collection of Études.
