    Overview

Glorious sacred music from Monteverdi’s Venice, as would have been heard by visitors attending services at St Mark’s Basilica around 1610, provides the lifeblood of this concert. One such visitor, hearing music ‘to ravish and stupefy all those that never heard the like’, described the performers as ‘superexcellent’.

The King’s Consort’s Monteverdi performances have been acclaimed worldwide. In this vivid programme they feature a world-class ensemble of singers and instrumentalists.
