The group’s seasoned blend of art and craft here finds expression in Mozart’s genial String Quartet in E flat K428 and Mendelssohn’s Beethoven-inspired String Quartet No. 2. Ravel’s youthful String Quartet in F proved a succès de scandale following its rejection by the Prix de Rome jury in 1904.
