    Overview

Adrian Chandler and La Serenissima have built anall-Vivaldi programme complete with ‘ghosts, birds, unrequited love, guns, drunks, dogs … and apimped-up violin’.

Their 21st anniversary concertpresents the Venetian composer’s famous ‘FourSeasons’ in an edition based on the work’s onlysurviving manuscript copy. Vivaldi’s adventurousspirit can also be heard in two concertos for thetromba marina, a single-stringed instrument thatsounds like a trumpet.

Adrian Chandler, luthier DavidRattray and Vivaldi expert Michael Talbot have teamedup to recreate this curious and loud instrument fromevidence surviving in the archives of the Ospedaledella Pietà, the famous foundling institution withwhich Vivaldi was associated for much of his career.
