Overview
Frank Bridge wrote his Cello Sonata between 1913and 1917, absorbing the grim darkness anddespair of the era’s global conflict into its score.
The two-movement work, premièred at Wigmore Hallalmost a century ago, is prefaced by Beethoven’sgenial Cello Sonata Op. 5 No. 1.
