Ruby Hughes graduated as a cellist before returningto study voice and winning the 2009 London HandelSinging Competition.

Her programme for this recitalexplores Schumann’s later songs, including four ofthe composer’s settings of verse by Nikolaus Lenauand the ‘Requiem’ he added to his Op. 90 collectionin response to mistaken news of the poet’s death.
