    Overview

Les Vents Français evoke great traditions of music for wind ensemble in this programme, from the Austro-German soil, all the way to Russia and the salons of Paris.

They open with Poulenc’s neo-Classical Trio for oboe, bassoon and piano, a work often noted for its emphasis on balance, simplicity and humour, and close with Mozart’s sublime Quintet in E flat for piano and winds, famously declared by the composer as 'the best thing I have so far written in my life'.

This concert is part of the CAVATINA Chamber Music Trust ticket scheme, offering free tickets to those aged 8-25
