    The fourth of Haydn’s ‘Sun’quartets – so-called because of thedevice of a rising sun emblazonedon an early published score – isnotable for the ‘gypsy’ inflectionsin its final two movements, whileBartók’s first quartet mourns anunhappy love affair.
