Melnikov continues his residencywith a concert performed onperiod instruments. Beethoven’sQuintet for piano and winds(1796) is very much a follow-up toMozart’s earlier masterpiece forthe medium (1784), even sharingits key of E flat. Its immediatesuccessor among the composer’spublished works is the delightfulHorn Sonata (1800).
