Andreas Staier has becomeparticularly admired for hisperformances of works fromthe classical and early Romanticperiods on the fortepiano. Twolarge-scale sonatas, both datingfrom Schubert’s final year, willoffer him supreme opportunitiesfor his talents, both expansivecompositions conceived on asubstantial scale and executedwith profundity.
