Overview

One of Ireland’s most prominent musicians returns to Wigmore Hall for a programme which includes two works by contemporary composers which form part of a project undertaken by the New Ross Piano Festival around 2013-2016. Fifteen Irish composers wrote works in response to one panel each of the Ros Tapestry, an embroidered tapestry tracing the history of the Norman invasion of Ireland. Deirdre Gribbin’s work reflects on a stormy medieval sea crossing, while Gerald Barry's evokes the moments before the Norman landing at Bannow Strand.
