Founded 50 years ago to celebrate the genius of Fryderyk Chopin, the society maintains a regular programme of concerts, talks and lecture-recitals with the art and life of the great Polish pianist-composer as the central focus. For this anniversary year a programme has been devised bringing together a group of leading musicians – four pianists and a cellist – and including many of Chopin’s favourite works, including the large-scale sonata for cello and piano he wrote in 1846.
