Overview

A graduate of the Moscow Conservatoire, where her tutor was Mikhail Olenev (her other teachers were Benjamin Kaplan and Makiko Maruya), Maki Sekiya‘s performances have been recommended as 'unmissable' by BBC Music Magazine, and the music critic Bryce Morrison has described her playing as 'utterly compelling'. She is Musician in Residence at Oxford University’s Green Templeton College and a regular soloist with the Orchestra of St John’s, whose conductor, John Lubbock, has praised her as 'a complete master and a wonderful discovery.' Her programme brings together music from East and West and combines new and established repertoire that offers a marvellous chance to experience her sensitivity and virtuosity.
