Overview

Founded in St Louis in 1994, the International Music Initiative has the mission of highlighting music by composers of African and other minority descent. English-born but with a Nigerian background, Tunde Jegede travelled to Africa as a child to learn the art of the kora. Music by the leading Ghanaian musician JH Kwabena Nketia (1921-2019) and the Egyptian composer Gamal Abdel-Rahim (1924-88) also features.
