Overview
Paired with the Shostakovich Preludes and Fugues on his recent three-disc set On DSCH is tonight’s mighty composition (1960-62) by the Scottish composer, pianist and Shostakovich devotee Ronald Stevenson (1928-2015). Andrew Clements described tonight’s soloist’s previous Wigmore exploration of the piece in The Guardian as ‘extraordinary, unforgettable.’
