Overview
Founded in 2011, the Castalian won prizes at the 2015 Lyons Chamber Music Competition and at the Banff International String Quartet Competition the following year, when it was also selected by the Young Classical Artists Trust; in 2019 it was in addition named Royal Philharmonic Society Young Artist of the year. Its programme conjoins works by the Mendelssohn siblings, including Fanny’s quartet of 1834.
