Overview

Here Ravel is complemented by predecessors Bach (in an 1893 transcription by Ferruccio Busoni, who made a substantial number of Bach editions and arrangements) and Chopin, plus a rarity by the Russian composer and pianist Nicolas Medtner (1880-1951), who spent the last 15 years of his life in London but whose first cycle of Forgotten Melodies was composed in Germany between 1919 and 1922; we hear the first of seven individual pieces from the set.
