Overview

Britten’s First (canonical) Quartet was written in American in 1941 and first performed in Los Angeles. Receiving its UK première, Charlotte Bray’s new work and her first for the medium, introduced by the Castalian in Hamburg in March, is a musical response to the migration crisis. The piece will be performed in conjunction with an art installation by Caroline Burraway, of children’s dresses handmade from discarded refugee jackets.

This concert is part of the CAVATINA Chamber Music Trust ticket scheme, offering free tickets to those aged 8-25
