Overview

Mozart’s Fourth Violin Concerto was written in Salzburg in 1775; it is worth remembering that the composer – son of the author of an important treatise on the violin – was certainly accomplished enough to play it himself. In addition to Mozart’s symphony from the previous year the programme includes a 1788 work by one of his Salzburg colleagues: Michael Haydn, brother to Joseph.
