Overview

In this final recital of the Coleridge-Taylor series, entitled 'Across the Pond', the soprano is joined by fellow musicians and the the fabulous actor and author Paterson Joseph to explore the artistic exchange between the UK/Europe and the US at the turn of the 20th Century, of which Coleridge-Taylor was a part. There will be readings of letters, poems, and articles written by Coleridge-Taylor, his librettist Paul Laurence Dunbar, and the activist Booker T Washington. These will be interspersed with songs by Coleridge-Taylor (including a world première of the song cycle The Soul's Expression), Dvořák, Korngold, and Amy Beach.

The Coleridge-Taylor Series is made possible with support from the Wigmore Hall Endowment Fund.
