Overview

The partnership between violinist and pianist is a familiar and outstandingly successful one. Schumann’s two violin sonatas are late works, composed in 1851: the slow movement of the D minor sonata comprises a series of variations on the chorale, ‘Gelobet seist du, Jesu Christ’.
