Overview

Here the Artist in Residence joins with an Associate Ensemble for a programme of American music both familiar and less familiar: Carlos Simon’s 2015 piece was inspired by an interview with Oprah Winfrey; Jennifer Higdon’s 2001 work foregrounds the dark wood of the bassoon; while Jessie Montgomery’s 2012 Starburst parallels the rapid formation of large numbers of stars in a galaxy.
