Overview
Bach – a predecessor of whom Busoni never tired – begins and ends the programme: the Improvisation on a chorale melody has become one of the Italian composer’s most popular pieces. He made several versions of the Fantasia contrappuntistica, his homage to Bach’s Art of Fugue. The Hungarian pianist joins Kirill Gerstein for the two-piano version, plus two other items – one a Mozartian arrangement.
