Overview

The tenor Nicky Spence, named BBC Music Magazine Personality of the Year in 2022, has earned critical plaudits on the world’s leading stages with a combination of what The Times describes as ‘heroic tone and a poetic sensibility that takes the breath away’. His 2024/25 season residency continues with the second of two afternoons of masterclasses, working with singers from the London colleges.

Eamonn Walsh, a 25-year-old tenor from Cork, is currently completing a Master’s in Performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance as a Kathleen Creed Scholarship recipient. At Trinity Laban he has performed roles including Ferrando in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Tamino in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Rodolfo in Puccini’s La bohème, Tom Rakewell in Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress, and Argirio in Rossini’s Tancredi. In 2025, he will be a Wild Arts Opera Young Artist and will tour with the company this summer, covering the role of Nemorino in Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore. He has worked with teachers and coaches including Eamonn Mulhall and Robert Botriell, and recently participated in masterclasses with Ailish Tynan and Matteo Dalle Fratte. Eamonn Walsh has performed internationally, including staged opera scenes in Feltre, Italy, and worked with the Irish National Opera Chorus in Beethoven’s Fidelio and Bizet’s Carmen. As a soloist, he has sung in Haydn’s Creation, Mozart’s Requiem, and Handel’s Messiah. 

British-Iranian pianist Roxanna Shini Mehrabzadeh is an accomplished performer, collaborator, and teacher. She has performed at distinguished venues across the UK and Europe including Wigmore Hall, Sinfonia Smith Square, Steinway Hall, the universities of Cambridge and Oxford, St James’s Piccadilly, Sala Michelangeli, The Arlberg 1800, Konzertsaal des Augustinum, Auditoria Joaquin Rodrigo and Nafplio Vouleftikon. As a sought after collaborative pianist, she regularly performs alongside vocalists and instrumentalists, working with esteemed musicians such as Eugene Asti, Pascal Rogé, Richard Stokes and Helen Yorke. She has also dedicated her time to promoting the rich history of Iranian song and poetry, premièring new works by Iranian composers. Roxanna Shini Mehrabzadeh is currently Junior Fellow for the Vocal Department at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance, where she recently completed her postgraduate studies in Piano with Distinction under Professors Peter Tuite and Martino Tirimo, she was kindly supported by the Open Music Foundation, the Ruth Walker Charitable Trust and Help Musicians UK.

In 2019 Owen Lucas successfully auditioned for the Glyndebourne Academy in 2019. He has performed regularly with Northern Ireland Opera through his involvement in the chorus of Strauss’s Die Fledermaus in 2019 and Puccini’s La bohème in 2021. In September 2022, Owen Lucas performed the role of Gastone in Northern Ireland Opera’s production of Verdi’s La traviata. He has competed successfully in singing competitions in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, he won the tenor solo in the Dublin Feis in 2021 and won Northern Ireland Opera’s Festival of Voice Deborah Voigt Opera prize and Audience prize. He was pleased to receive The Brackaville Bursary for Vocal Studies from Irish Heritage last January. Owen Lucas sang with the Glyndebourne Chorus in the 2023 and 2024 summer seasons. He is currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music with Mark Wildman.Daniel Peter Silcock is a Scottish pianist currently based in London, particularly distinguished as a song accompanist. Recently, he has performed at the world’s top music venues, including New York’s Carnegie Hall, and at Wigmore Hall. 

Daniel Peter Silcock is a Samling Artist, and a part of Renée Fleming’s SongStudio 2024; he was an Art of Song fellow at Toronto Summer Music, as well as the Schubert Insitute UK prize winner as a Leeds Lieder Young Artist last year. Other recent accompanist prizes include at the inaugural Eastbourne Singing Competition, and the International Lied Competition in Görlitz, Germany. Before coming to London, he won prizes at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland for interpretations of French piano repertoire and made his concerto debut at the age of 15 with the RCS Symphony Orchestra. This year, Daniel Peter Silcock is continuing on the Song Circle and Academy Voices fellowship at the Royal Academy of Music, where he studied with Joseph Middleton and won major prizes for song accompaniment. 

Sonny Fielding is a baritone from Liverpool, who is currently studying at on the Opera Course at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. He previously studied for an MA at the Royal Academy of Music, graduating with a Distinction. He currently studies with Robert Dean, and his past tutors include Stephen Robertson, Raymond Connell and Jeffrey Lawton. After four years of study at the Junior Department of the Royal Northern College of Music, he was then accepted into the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Sonny Fielding was honoured to be the ‘Baroness de Turckheim’ Scholar at the Royal Academy of Music, and is delighted to currently be supported by the Worshipful Company of Fishmongers.

Dublin-born pianist Luke Lally Maguire is currently studying on the Artist Diploma programme at Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where he studies with Carole Presland, Charles Owen and Ronan O’Hora. He is sought after as a soloist, as well as a collaborative and chamber musician. In January 2023, he made his solo recital debut in the National Concert Hall in Dublin and will perform there again this Spring. He previously performed at Wigmore Hall as part of the Irish Heritage Music Bursary auditions, receiving the Music Bursary for Performance. Most recently, was awarded the 2024 Glass Sellers Beethoven Prize at the Guildhall, and was also shortlisted as one of four Irish pianists to compete in the Dublin International Piano Competition in 2025. Passionate about song and operatic repertoire, Luke Lally Maguire has extensive experience as a collaborative pianist, having performed in masterclasses with Wolfgang Holzmair, Anne Le Bozec, Dearbhla Collins and Graham Johnson. 

Francis Melville is a tenor currently studying on the Master's course at the Royal College of Music, where he is a Cuthbert Smith Scholar and is generously supported by the Josephine Baker Trust. He is taught by tenor Ben Johnson and coached by Caroline Dowdle. Previous roles include Miguel in Offenbach’s Pepito, Count Almaviva in Rossini’s The Barber of Seville and Torquemada in Ravel's L'heure espagnole. He performed in the chorus for Grange Park Opera’s 2024 season. Recent solo engagements include: Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, Verdi’s Requiem, Mozart’s Requiem, and Handel’s Messiah. Recent masterclasses include: Edith Wiens, Nicky Spence, Ian Burnside, Rachel Nicholls, and Robert Dean. Before studying at the RCM, he studied medicine at Imperial College, London and worked as a junior doctor from 2020 until 2022. 

British pianist Ella O’Neill was recently announced as the 2024 winner of the biennial Royal Philharmonic Society Gerald Moore Award for outstanding piano accompanists. Other awards include the Accompanist’s Prize in the 2019 Kathleen Ferrier Awards at Wigmore Hall, where she returned in September for her recital debut with regular duo partner Laurence Kilsby. This summer marked the release of the duo’s debut album, Awakenings, co-produced by Deutsche Grammophon, Avi Music and SWR Kultur. She has performed at Carnegie Hall as a SongStudio artist, as well as Snape Maltings, Cadogan Hall, the Royal Opera House Crush Room, Opera Holland Park, Heidelberger Frühling, and the Oxford International Song, Leeds Lieder, and Brighton festivals, as well as regular appearances on BBC Radio 3’s ‘In Tune’. Ella O’Neill is a Samling artist and works regularly as a staff pianist with Samling Institute for Young Artists, as well as the Royal College of Music.
