Programme

Overview

Erwin Schulhoff, fatally persecuted by the Nazis, poured the spirit of Czech folk music into his vibrant First String Quartet. Vladimír Bukac joins the Bennewitz Quartet for Dvořák’s spellbinding String Quintet, inspired by the Czech and Native American tunes the composer heard while staying at Spillville, Iowa, in the summer of 1893.
