Overview

Robert Schumann told his wife Clara that his First Piano Sonata, written long before their marriage, was ‘a solitary outcry for you from my heart’. Tim Horton follows Schumann’s impassioned score with the seventh of Stockhausen’s Klavierstücke, a concise contemplation of sound and silence, and Chopin’s fiendishly difficult, musically enriching Third Piano Sonata.
