Overview

Interest in Rebecca Clarke (1886-1979) has soared in recent years with help from Leah Broad’s book Quartet: How Four Women Changed the Musical World and Christopher Johnson, who worked closely with the composer and violist during the last decade of her life. They introduce the story of Clarke’s eventful life and eloquent art, illustrated with works drawn from her large output of fine songs.
