Overview

The influence on the young Mozart of the ‘London Bach,’ Johann Christian (1735-82), was significant: he spent five months teaching Wolfgang composition when both were in the English capital in 1764. Tonight’s Mozart symphony dates from 1773 when he was 19, his Third Violin Concerto from two years later.
