Founded in 2011, and within a few years winning major competition prizes, the unusually named ensemble derived its moniker from a spring at ancient Delphi whose waters provided poetic inspiration. Recent recognition has come via the Royal Philharmonic Society Award for Young Artists in 2019, and the group’s current engagement as Hans Keller Quartet in Residence at Oxford University. Wigmore appearances over the last few years include the Haydn Op. 76 quartets (also recorded for Wigmore Live), and a series involving leading collaborators exploring Schumann and Brahms. This new series sets the works of a leading British quartet composer with his contemporary descendants.
