Named for the Erinyes (‘the Furies’) from the Greek tragedy Oresteia by Aeschylus, the Erinys Quartet was founded in 2018 at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki where they worked closely with cellist Marko Ylönen. Since Autumn 2023 Erinys has been the Nina von Maltzahn String Quartet in Residence at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. At the Bad Tölz International String Quartet Competition in 2023 they were awarded the Audience Prize Award of the City of Bad Tölz, as well as the Esterházy Foundation Special Prize for best interpretation of a Haydn string quartet. Since 2021 the Erinys Quartet has been supported by Le Dimore del Quartetto where they are also a part of the European Union sponsored MERITA platform. In the 2024/25 season the Erinys Quartet will present concerts throughout the USA and Europe, including debuts at the Konzerthaus Berlin and the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society. They will also be giving concerts around the USA as part of Curtis on Tour. In addition to their studies at Curtis with the Dover Quartet, Erinys is pursuing a diploma in chamber music at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid, Spain under the tutelage of Professor Günter Pichler of the Alban Berg Quartet.

Katarina String Quartet

Formed in 2022 at McGill University under the tutelage of André Roy, the Katarina String Quartet (KSQ) has quickly emerged as one of North America’s leading young string quartets. Currently serving as the Graduate Resident String Quartet at The Juilliard School, the KSQ has worked extensively with members of the Alban Berg, Pacifica, Danel, and Juilliard string quartets. The quartet most recently participated in the Dover Quartet Workshop and the Robert Mann String Quartet Institute; in 2023, the quartet attended IMS Prussia Cove and the McGill International String Quartet Academy (MISQA). The KSQ won the Gold Medal and the BIPOC Composer Prize at the 2024 St. Paul Chamber Music Competition; the quartet was also First Prize prize winner at the 2023 Canadian Music Competition. The KSQ takes its name from Katarina Guarneri, who scholars believe completed many of her husband, Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù’s, violins. Inspired by Katarina, the KSQ celebrates that behind the canonized figureheads of classical music, there are countless people and communities that contribute to the art we enjoy. The ensemble is featured regularly at central classical music societies in Montreal and regularly performs in community centres in New York City.

The Myriade String Quartet was founded in 2021 at the McGill University Schulich School of Music and works under the tutelage of André Roy. With members hailing from Canada, France, and the United States, the Myriade String Quartet was selected to participate in the 2021 Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition and was chosen as Artist in Residence at the 2022 Prince Edward County Chamber Music Festival, which included collaborations with Charles Richard-Hamelin, Scott St-John, Angela Park, and Sharon Wei of the New Orford String Quartet. Recent performance highlights include the Chapelle du Bon-Pasteur series, Concerts aux Îles du Bic, a residency as part of the 2023 Unionville Music Academy Competition, the quartet fellowship at the Colorado Music Festival and selection as a senior string quartet for the McGill International String Quartet Academy (MISQA).

Formed in 2014 at the Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo, Swedish-Norwegian string quartet Opus13 is one of Scandinavia's most exciting ensembles. The quartet won Second Prize at the Banff International String Quartet Competition in 2022 and received the Norwegian Equinor Classical Music Award in 2023, joining a list of previous winners including Leif Ove Andsnes, Lise Davidsen and Vilde Frang. Opus13 has performed in concert series and festivals in Europe, Republic of Korea and the USA, and collaborated with international musicians such as Janine Jansen, Olli Mustonen, Julian Bliss, Alisa Weilerstein, Tabea Zimmermann, Jonathan Biss and Anne Sofie von Otter. Highlights in 2025 include a return to Chamber Music Northwest in Portland, Oregon, and Leif Ove Andsnes' festival in Rosendal, Norway. In its early years, the ensemble received invaluable support and concert experience from the Oslo Quartet Series' talent development programme and Crescendo's mentor programme. The ensemble currently receives guidance and coaching from Bjørg Lewis and Berit Cardas of the Vertavo Quartet, and also from Tim Frederiksen. The members of Opus13 are founders and artistic directors of ‘Vinterspill på Lillehammer’, a winter chamber music festival in Lillehammer.

Quartet Integra

Founded in 2015, Quartet Integra is developing a prestigious international reputation. The quartet won Second Prize and the coveted Audience Award at the 2022 ARD International Music Competition, First Prize at the 2021 Bartók World Competition, and First Prize, the Beethoven Prize and the Grand Prix Award at the 2019 Akiyoshidai Music Competition. Quartet Integra has performed in numerous venues throughout the USA, Europe, and Japan, and has collaborated with artists including Augustin Hadelich, Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi, Fabio Bidini, Shigeo Neriki, and the Calidore String Quartet. The quartet began its studies with Kazuhide Isomura and Nobuko Yamazaki at the Toho Gakuen School of Music; the musicians then continued their academic work as a quartet as fellows at the Suntory Hall Chamber Music Academy. Currently, the ensemble is the Chamber Ensemble in Residence at the Colburn School, where the musicians study with Martin Beaver, Jonathan Brown, and Clive Greensmith. Quartet Integra is supported by grant funding from the Matsuo Foundation and is on the roster of Japan Arts and Colburn Artists.

Quartett HANA

The Quartett HANA was founded in 2019 at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München (HMTM). The ensemble has won prizes at multiple competitions: Second Prize at the Geneva International Music Competition 2023, Third Prize at the Carl Nielsen International Chamber Music Competition 2023, the ‘Förderpreis Jeunesse Musicales Deutschland’ special prize at the ARD International Music Competition and Third Prize at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University Competition in Berlin. In 2024 they took part in the Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition Academy. Recent performances have included the Mozartfest Würzburg and the Groba Festival in Spain; future engagements include performances at the Heidelberg Spring String Quartet Festival in 2025. The quartet has been studying with Raphaël Merlin and the Quatuor Ébène at the HMTM since 2021 and at the Musikhochschule Lübeck since 2024. The ensemble works regularly with Eberhard Feltz and Dirk Mommertz (Fauré Quartet) and has participated in masterclasses with Oliver Wille and William Coleman (Kuss Quartet), Gerhard Schulz (Alban Berg Quartet) and Quatuor Voce. The two violinists, Gyurim Kwak and Fuga Miwatashi, alternate in the first violin chair.

Quatuor Elmire

Founded in 2017, the Quatuor Elmire was awarded Second Prize at the 2023 Geneva International Music Competition as well as the Etrillard Foundation Special Prize for the most outstanding artistic project, in this case a highly successful cultural outreach programme for schoolchildren. The quartet is also a laureate of the Carl Nielsen International Competition in Copenhagen. Quatuor Elmire has performed in some of the world’s most renowned venues, including the Philharmonie de Paris, Victoria Hall in Geneva, the Philharmonie Luxembourg, and the Grange au Lac in Évian. The ensemble is supported by prominent quartets such as the Modigliani, Ysaÿe, Belcea and Ébène and is a resident artist at the Singer-Polignac Foundation and La Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth. The musicians are also ProQuartet Grand Residents for 2024-25, Spedidam Generation artists, and laureates of the Banque Populaire Foundation. During 2024, the quartet has performed at the Alte Oper Frankfurt, the 30th anniversary of La Folle Journée de Nantes, the Salle Cortot and the Tokyo International Forum, and will perform at the Philharmonie de Paris in December.

The Terra String Quartet (TSQ) is a vibrant international ensemble based in New York City and composed of graduates of The Juilliard School, New England Conservatory, Harvard University, and the Curtis Institute of Music. The TSQ is the 2024/25 Fellowship Ensemble in Residence at the Yale School of Music, as well the 2024/25 Ernst Stiefel String Quartet in Residence at the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts. The quartet has performed at festivals and venues across the world, with recent concerts at Capital Region Classical, Rockport Music, Guarneri Hall, Chamber Music Raleigh, Venice Art Biennale and the Emilia-Romagna Festival in Italy. The TSQ is deeply invested in education and community work, having been the 2023/24 Project Music Heals Us Arts Leadership Ensemble, and was chosen as the inaugural Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival’s Professional Fellowship Quartet at East Carolina University. The TSQ is the recipient of the Silver Medal at the 2023 Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition, Bronze Medal at the 2023 Osaka International Chamber Music Competition, and the Grand Prize and Gold Medal at the 2022 Fischoff Chamber Music Competition.

Turicum Quartet

Turicum is the ancient roman name of Zurich, the place where the quartet was founded in 2021, with four voices from four different countries forming a vibrant unity. In 2023 the Turicum Quartet was awarded Second Prize at the Karol Szymanowski International Music Competition, where their performance was livestreamed worldwide. Highlights since then include the quartet’s debut at the Tonhalle Zurich, a performance at Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra Concert Hall in Katowice and playing at the Mizmorim Festival in Basel alongside the renowned Gringolts Quartet. In 2024 the ensemble was Quartet in Residence at the Ticino Musica Festival in Switzerland; this season includes concerts in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, the UK, Belgium, Italy and Norway. The Turicum Quartet is very grateful for the guidance of Ilya Gringolts (Gringolts Quartet), Axel Schacher (Belcea Quartet) and Gregor Sigl (Artemis Quartet); during the 2024-25 academic year the quartet will be studying in Basel with Rainer Schmidt (Hagen Quartet) and Silvia Simionescu (Gringolts Quartet). The Turicum Quartet is a fellowship holder of Villa Musica in Germany, is part of Le Dimore del Quartetto and has been selected for the European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA).

Velvet Quartet

The Velvet Quartet, founded in 2020, unites four young musicians from Turkey, Latvia, Germany, and Spain. Based between Essen and Berlin, the ensemble’s journey began under the guidance of Andreas Reiner, with their artistic development continuing under the direction of Oliver Wille. Since then, they have been mentored by Quatuor Ébène, the Belcea Quartet, Cuarteto Casals, among others. The quartet has received recognition in competitions, including First Prize at the 2024 Gianni Bergamo Classic Music Award in Lugano, has taken part in events such as the String Quartet Biennale at the Philharmonie de Paris and was resident at the Vibre! String Quartet Festival in Bordeaux, France. As recipient of a scholarship from the W. Richard–Dr. Dörken Foundation, the quartet performed a series of concerts across Germany and was featured live on German radio (WDR3). The Velvet Quartet is also a member of the Le Dimore del Quartetto programme. In addition to its dedication to the classical repertoire, the Velvet Quartet actively engages in interdisciplinary collaborations, for example, last season and this season the musicians partnered with dancers from Essen’s Aalto Theater Ballet Company in ‘Last’.

Viatores Quartet

The Viatores Quartet was founded in early 2023 at the Hanns Eisler Hochschule für Musik Berlin and is based in Berlin. The group is currently studying with Professor Tabea Zimmermann at the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst Frankfurt and at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover in the class of Professor Oliver Wille. The quartet takes its name from the Latin term ‘viatores’ which means ‘travellers’. As the name suggests, the quartet proudly represents four different origins and cultures, united by a common goal. In January 2024 the quartet was awarded First Prize and the Friends of Young Musicians Prize at the Mendelssohn-Bartholdy Competition. The ensemble is increasingly in demand on the concert stage and has performed at renowned venues including the Berlin Philharmonic and Konzerthaus Berlin. Recent performances include appearances at Villa Musica, Hindemith-Tage, AIMA Festival, Klassik im Spandau, Piano Salon Christophori, Charlottenburg Castle and Mainau Castle. Future performances will take them to cities such as Cologne, Munich, Düsseldorf and Trier, as well as to Austria, Turkey and Great Britain. Next year will also see the production and release of the quartet’s first CD.
