Cardinal Hume Centre

The Cardinal Hume Centre is based in Westminster and supports families and young people facing poverty and homelessness by helping them to thrive.

Wigmore Hall have been working in partnership with the Centre for over 10 years.

We work with family services to lead music workshops for their families, including early years workshops and holiday programmes for children. Through music making we aim to improve personal and social skills, enhance connections with family or other young people, develop interest and confidence in music making, and boost the wellbeing of participants.

“They really enjoyed the music and play sessions, especially my 5 year old boy”

PARENT AT CHC

“…children were offered an arena in which to share their creativity in a safe non-judgmental space. This can be quite powerful for some children who find expressing themselves difficult. We witnessed some children who are quite embarrassed by the whole thing gain confidence over time... It was inspiring to watch.”

FAMILY SUPPORT WORKER AT CHC

“Family Services has really benefited from this partnership. Each and every session was delivered with expertise, sensitivity and consideration for the Service and its clients. It was a very positive experience all round... After a long period of no music making it was wonderful to be able to offer this to children.”
