Low Stimulus Performances

Low Stimulus Performances

Low stimulus performances may benefit those who prefer a quieter environment, and some neurodivergent people. However, everyone is welcome to experience the unique and calm atmosphere.

  • Music will be programmed that doesn't contain any sudden or loud moments.
  • Lighting will be kept low, and performances will be in the daytime to benefit from the natural light from the ceiling window.
  • Announcements and background noise will be kept to a minimum.
  • There will be a quiet space during the performance in the Bechstein room.
  • Hand dryers will be switched off in the toilets and paper towels will be available instead.
  • Ear defenders are available at the Box Office

"I really enjoyed the concert. It was so beautifully curated and the atmosphere in the hall was really special. It's such a great initiative"

Relaxed Performances

Relaxed Performances

Relaxed performances at Wigmore Hall are designed to welcome people who may benefit from an informal performance environment. People can move freely during the performance and make noise. Everyone is welcome to experience the relaxed atmosphere.

  • There is a relaxed attitude to noise and movement and audience members are welcome to move in and out of the auditorium as they wish.
  • The house lights will stay up throughout the performance.
  • The musicians will introduce their pieces.
  • There is a quiet space in the Bechstein Room downstairs.
  • Ear defenders are available at the Box Office

“We have been to several relaxed concerts with our 13-year-old, who has some learning difficulties. The basic idea and format are excellent… the repertoire was so well chosen and the performers had such excellent communication skills.”
