    Mozart described the music of his PianoConcerto No. 12 in A K414, conceived forperformance either with small orchestraor string quartet, as ‘very brilliant, pleasingto the ear, and natural’.

    James Baillieumoves from concerto soloist to chambermusic partner in the second half, joiningthe Heath Quartet in Elgar’s Piano Quintet,which received its first public performanceat Wigmore Hall in May 1919.
