Overview

Pavel Kolesnikov’s programme features some of Chopin’s most typical piano works surrounding two Mozart piano sonatas. K310 is the first of only two Mozart piano sonatas in a minor key and was composed in the summer of 1778 around the time of his mother's death, one of the most tragic times of his life. The last movement of K331, marked Alla turca, (popularly known as the ‘Turkish Rondo’ or ‘Turkish March’), is often heard on its own and is one of Mozart's best-known piano pieces.
