Overview

Alexander von Zemlinsky’s finest songs, his settings of poetry by the Belgian Symbolist Maurice Maeterllinck among them, open the door to an often mystical realm, rich and strange. Florian Boesch places a selection of them alongside Robert Schumann’s Liederkreis Op. 24, one of the creative miracles of 1840, the composer’s legendary ‘Year of Song’.
