Overview

Excitement and dramatic tension are vital elements in David Butt Philip’s potent expressive arsenal. The British tenor, whose current season highlights include Beethoven’s Florestan at New York’s Metropolitan Opera and Wagner’s Lohengrin at the Vienna State Opera, joins James Baillieu in a programme of ardent settings of Romantic poetry and Britten’s The Holy Sonnets of John Donne, first performed at Wigmore Hall in 1945.
